        Integration at screen level rather than via back-end systems.

        The switch from 'screen scraping' and 'running macros' to 'RPA' came with promises that the new systems can understand the UIs and handle things like fields changing location, matching field X on app A to field X on app B, other accelerators for automating.

        They're actually not shabby. Proper server side integration is still preferable but RPA works with other peoples' systems too, and is quicker and cheaper to get up and running.

    They will only create massive agglomerations of Feudall Empires reliant on huge scales of human intervention in order to create the right metrics.
