BT's EE has selected Nokia to fill the Huawei-shaped hole in its 5G network. The deal will involve Nokia providing crucial 5G RAN equipment, and make the Finnish giant BT's largest external vendor. EE picked Nokia's AirScale Single RAN (S-RAN) hardware for its upcoming deployment, as well as its ng-SDM and NetAct management …

      Yup.

And if KCom follow suit we can have lots of “Huawei the lads!” jokes.

    Got to ask the question

What is wrong with 3g ? Works fine for me and i cannot see a benefit of 5g, lower range but better in congested areas ? Massive costs for both suppliers and users / phones. More masts ?

The only thing I can see is Trump having a hissy fit about Huawei and everyone lining up like good children and then going sod you and Cisco, let's use Nokia. Strange times.

I'm currently using 4G for home broadband and it's great. I'm hoping that when 5G arrives I'll get higher speeds but I'm not sure I'll actually notice

        Same here.

And if they deployed 4G properly, you could easily get speeds to rival VDSL. They just don't bother in the UK, for some reason. Obviously trying to sell you 5G (which, at the moment, gives slower speeds than 4G).

Nah it gave you cancer...that's why I have healing crystals in my house and wear a copper bracelet around my wrist....both absorb cancer and 3Gs.
