The company revealed the attack on July 5th with an announcement that “certain systems” of the IT environment at its insurance managed services subsidiary Xchanging had fallen victim to ransomware. Thumb Up

"full restoration of Xchanging customer operations"

So I gather that Xchanging actually had backups, and knew to restore them.

Finally a case where the miscreants didn't win.

Isn't it nice to have a functional IT department ?

Nice to read an update on El reg...

As DXC/Xchanging have still failed to update us officially on the incident (not insurance sector BTW but we did have an outage). I am still wondering if this was linked to the Cisco ransom episode (as DXC are a Cisco Partner).

Australian brewer Lion that was sunk by two shots of ransomware in recent months

And don't forget Australia's Toll Holdings got hit too. Twice in six months.

Wow, all told that must have really taken a toll on Toll. They totally stubbed a toe. Did they ever tot up the cost?

Okay, okay, I'm leaving. No need to push! Some people don't have any cents of humor. Or dollars either!

Interesting that DxC just had a major hardware 'issue' that caused their entire network to be rebooted without warning as well - one wonders :)

Finally after 4 months of silence something about DXC

    So what's changed?

For months information starved DXC employees have waited to read in The Register what's really going on but nothing. Not the yearly results, not the redundancies, not the odd executive behaviour & outbursts, but nothing. We thought El Reg had abandoned us but are you back or was this article ust an aberration?
