    So the phones should be even more cheaper than the current offerings? If they are to capture the mass market, that is !

    Mind you, UK will always be the laggard, due to lack of infrastructure and extremely poor 5G coverage. Covid 19 and Huawei shenanigans have given them a good get out of jail clause, to not bother.

      No, this is just the chipset for the next gen of Chinese phones. Mediatek chips are normally pretty good but the software – essential for SoCs – is another matter.

      If China really wants to make it in the chip world, the software quality, reliability and availability is going to have to improve.

        I own´t buy a mediatek powered phone.. as they do not release drivers etc.. so the phones just don´t get updates.

      I thought 5G uptake was slow mainly since loons keep setting the masts on fire.
