Yet another unregulated financial service?

It took over a century all told to develop the financial regulation regimes that silently protect all of us from expensive fraud. Now (at least for the last couple of decades) we're happy to abandon that safety by signing up to entirely unregulated financial intermediaries. Can't see why...

Don't quote me on this, but if I recall correctly (from many regrettable years working in Financial Services), in the UK any company that processes payments/transactions is legally required to be registered with and subject to Financial Conduct Authority and Financial Ombudsman Service - So on the surface, there is oversight there...

The question is, why is Samsung doing this? Its either keeping up with the Cook's, or just because. Either way, they've not done their research very well, as it seems every consumer-focused company has their own branded card!

The one I'm really waiting for is the PornHub Visa Card, I'd apply for this in a heartbeat, just to see the "WTF???!" look from checkout operators. I wonder what their loyalty scheme would be.
