    For those unaware, Macquarie is a sharp-but-fair player, unusually intelligent, typically at the pointy-end of the financial markets in terms of smart trading/investing.

    For example, if an investment bank outbids Macquarie, you know they overpaid. You can think of them like a less hysterical Goldman Sachs.

    Their infrastructure group(s) in particular have been serious & profitable global players for quite a while now.

    Bankers Trust and Macquarie used to be same-style neck&neck until BT was bought & mungled.

      They are also lumbered with the Midland Expressway (better known as the M6 toll) ... so maybe not that sharp.
