Yes, as a matter of national security any nation that has the resources (natural, technical and financial) should develop the ability to complete important supply chains. As a Canadian, I'm pointing at my own country. If Trump has highlighted anything it is that no other country can be counted on as a suppler of anything, especially military and high tech equipment.

With China and N. Korea getting stronger, now would be a good time for Japan and S. Korea to become better friends. This growing resentment is way too easy to exploit.
