Thank you
For the really small image of the manual. Really helpful. Thanks.
Cheers.
If you needed a manual for your Apple-1, you've missed your chance. Some other well-heeled fanboi is 12 pages richer and nearly $13k poorer. The booklet was originally expected to go for $10k but such is the determination of Apple fans to spend money on the company's products, the dozen pages of Woz-wisdom actually went for $ …
Just found an old Apple II manual in a storage box. Still in pretty good shape. Not a II Plus or IIe manual. The original II. After a quick search found a copy of the Apple I manual online. Its a bit of a head scratcher.
I know 6502 and even rewrote a Z80 monitor and reading through the 6502 source for the Apple I monitor reminds me of the first time I opened up the hardware schematic for the Apple II motherboard and tried to work out what the hell Woz was doing with a lot of the 74 / 74LS lines. About 95% of the 74LS lines where going to the expected places on the board but there were are a whole bunch of lines where it was a - WFT is he doing here. Never did work out some of them.
Then there was the first Disk II we opened up and tried to work out how it worked from the circuit diagram.
Pure voodoo.
$13,000 is fairly cheap for such a detailed hardware manual.
I have a broken 3 year old dell laptop that I was trying to re-purpose the LCD screen for a Raspberry PI. I called up dell and asked if I could get a technical hardware manual for just that small board and they simply said that unless I was a company and would pay a lot of money they would not share any schematics.
Obviously a crap Dell laptop manual is sodding priceless in comparison.
Fucking cares
The idiot human will assign value to any old junk, including scraps of paper that is of very little historical significance or value
Basically, humans are fucking stupid and allegedly being a member of said species is a fucking embarrassment
In the word of Frito
“I like money”
Well. Don't buy it then.
Any item is only worth as much as someone is willing and prepared to pay for it. If someone wants to pay $13k for a book or $300M on a painting (https://www.jackson-pollock.org/number-5.jsp) then there you go. Likewise you can find a PDF for the manual for free, go to a kindy and get a 5yo to do some finger painting and you can also drive a Mazda in preference to a Rolls Royce if you wish or that's all you can do.
Mind you, I dont want to spend $13k on a manual and if I had $300M I wouldnt spend it on a painting but there you also go.
