back to article Fed up with Oracle's Sith, AWS wades into Big Red's lawsuit over Pentagon JEDI contract

AWS has intervened in Oracle's lawsuit against the Pentagon's plans to award a $10bn cloud contract to a single vendor. The cloudy arm of the online marketplace giant said Big Red's claims that AWS workers had a hand in drafting the deal and got the inside track on competitors are "meritless". There is, of course, little love …

Cluniac of DNS. Enthaply/time is the new 5D Unit

It makes no sense to me. Infrastructure peering, a proper index and horsepower. #butchershook

    Larry -vs- Jeff smackdown..

Larry better pick on someone his own size. Amazon $780B market cap, Oracle $175B.

Yes, that's exactly the reason - Oracle wants to increase its revenues by 10Bn...

AWS vs Oracle - get the popcorn

This should be fun for folk who like watching attack dog American lawyer types :) What's more interesting is when IBM will weigh in to dismember Oracle: IBM has form for over a hundred years on using lawyers to eviscerate annoyances and competitors.

The DoD probably doesn't have the money to afford to alienate some of its bigger suppliers - but this or other smackdowns may enable them to get cheaper services.

"IBM will weigh in to dismember Oracle"

It looks IBM recently has been very effective at dismembering itself. Maybe it has still some friends in the government, but maybe not enough.

I get that you might not want to be locked into a single vendor, but Oracle complaining about it is ludicrous, that’s their entire business model!

IBM and Oracle have form for working together, I'd put money on them joining oracle's suit

This is seriously the legacy tech verses the new boys, chances are the 85% thats getting replaced is oracle software on IBM hardware

Given the Pentagon's spec, is there any real argument that any service other than AWS can actually deliver the goods? I mean, for God's sake Larry: you really can't defy gravity by the force of your will, climate change is real, and Nature cannot be fooled.
