hey why dont you actually build something...

rather than simply outsourcing and being at the mercy of a long supply chain buy some robot's

or invest in a highly automated plants with one in the USA one in APAC and one in EMEA

i'm pretty sure you could get a contract manufacturer to invest in the plants with you...

its not like resulting CPE is often more than a single board in a plastic box...

It might be no more than a single board, but have you looked at the component market before you vomit your comment onto the forum bucket?

Simple chicken feed componets are in short suppy, the latest for me, an mma0204 resistor that has availability for April 2020!!! Caps are getting short, try a 50V 10uf 1206 and see how many have availability dates of next year.

It doesn't matter if you're making it in house or sub contract, if the parts aren't available you can't make it, or you have to buy the next more expensive part as replacement so your costs go up now and next time, when you buy the next more expensive part, until there are none left and you have to make a design chnage.

A shortage of components from their usual suppliers? Hey, maybe this is an opportunity for Arris to buy different components that ***aren't*** crap. They might even be able to build devices that aren't crap.
