    Software-defined storage

Program Managers the world over will be falling over themselves to replace actual physical HDD storage on pesky and annoying hardware with simulated/virtual software-defined storage. They've probably already called up Seagate to cancel their orders. They're demanding coders to find the "1TB" string and replace it with "10000000000TB".

It was the same logic as used when Microsoft bought Minecraft for $2.5B. Somebody wanted to visualize all hardware with those amazing virtual computers built from virtual blocks. Once everything is vitualized with the Minecraft environment, then that environment can itself be hosted recursively in itself thereby completely eliminating any requirement for any actual hardware whatsoever.
