    I guess he found out that hiding out in the basement didn't work out then? I do hope the lad hiding out in the Ecuadorian embassy reads this and realizes hiding out won't stop the judicial system or make things easier on him.

      He's already out of the embassy and at a safe, undisclosed location.

    Say what you want about his integrity

    "he wanted to be present for the birth of his son. That hiatus would go on for eight years"

    Can't fault his parental dedication, though. :-)

      But now his child, who we can assume is old enough to remember not having a dad, will not have a dad. If he had just served his (shorter) term he would have even more total time with the tyke, during a time that arguably matters more than during early infancy.
