    will the NFS tech survive the assimilation?

    I have to wonder whether Microshaft will do the 'Extinguish' part of 'Embrace, Extend, Extinguish' on the NFS tech developed by Avere, as part of their "World Wide Windows" assimilation strategy...

      Azure has surprisingly little to do with Windows these days and you'd probably find the NFS tech is one of the main motivations for the acquisition.

        Haven't MS been offering NFS on Netapp kit up until recently? Possibly a longer term strategy to break away from that relationship since it's probably not what would be considered cloud native.

    Terms not disclosed....usually means buyout was less than $ invested...

    Good luck to the storage companies that need an exit...or more cash...Avere has a lot of customers.....y'all are $%*@&'d.

    All those vms are going to need a boost after they get borked/ erm... patched for the intel vulnerability.

    "Cloud" - time for a new marketing buzz word, this one has just about lost it's luster.

    How about new "Space" Storage. It's out there man, an you gotta have it!
