back to article Oracle stockholders don't like exec mega-awards or gender pay gap transparency

Oracle's stockholders have voted against the company's amended executive pay plan, along with a proposal for greater transparency on its gender pay gap. The new exec pay package would give CTO Larry Ellison and joint CEOs Safra Catz and Mark Hurd pay packets worth more than $100m, and is, for the first time, entirely tied to …

    Very productful vote.

Outcome in a nutshell: Larry doesn't recognize Amazon as a strong influence (sidenote: or women). But! Someone got a boat motor!

    Another Biting the Dust

The fact shareholders are restless should be an alert to the clueless wonders including Leisure Suit Larry. Restless natives are a good sign that something is really rotten even if it is not showing up in the balance sheet yet. The Minions are relatively minor cloud players and are relying on existing customers renewing their leases. Even though migrating from one relational database to another is no picnic is it not impossible if management decides they are much better off ditching Leisure Suit Larry. And from what the scuttle butt is dealing with the Minions is a royal pain when comes to shakedowns aka 'audits'.

    Corporate Greed...

So, they wanted to give themselves a $100m package, but at the same time, the people who *actually* do the work can go whistle if they want a pay rise.

    Seems fair to me.

Even worse than that. HR sent out a letter to be read at staff meetings decrying that the minions who haven't gotten a raise for three, four or five years were slacking off.

The lazy buggers should stop slacking off then. Those executive bonuses don't come from nowhere.

Also, I quite see Mr. Ellison's point refusing to disclose his political donations. If you want influence, buy your own.

"Oracle's "autonomous" database ran 15 times faster than Amazon's Redshift for a tenth of the price."

A tenth of the price! Oh no, Oracle is going to go bankrupt giving away their products like that. Take a little profit for yourselves, guys. You have to eat too.

"Gender equity reporting? Nah, we don't need that"

Well it's hardly news that women are cheaper. And trying to manually adjust market value is doomed to fail.
