back to article San Franciscans unite to smite alt-right with minefield of doggy shite

A shit storm awaits a bunch of far-right protestors when they convene in San Francisco this weekend – locals are storing up their doggy do-do and plan to distribute it in the area the protestors are holding the rally. People of the Rainbow City will heavily pepper Crissy Field and the white beach next to the Golden Gate bridge …

Have you ever been to SF? This is a place where people wear trash bags for pants and defecate in entryways outside of buildings. Doubt this mess will be cleaned up any time soon.

Would also not be surprised if the city has an ordnance stating you need to pick up after your dog. If the city was smart, they would be sitting in wait with citation books in hand to make some money from this.

yeah they "promise" to get together and clean it up afterwards, but you know how it is with lefties... whenever you see photos of 'the aftermath' when they leave, trash all over etc. because most of them have the mentality that "someone else" will do it [usually gummint]. It's how they think. Gummint does EVERYTHING according to leftists, so cleaning up their mess would make sense, to THEM.

      here's an example: http://www.king5.com/tech/science/environment/ton-of-trash-left-behind-after-environmental-protest/197524056

and don't forget trash arranged in the form of a peace sign, at woodstock... [yeah why couldnt' they haul it away instead?] OK not a protest, but it was hippies "back in the day", a foreshadowing of the future behavior of left-leaning protests, I'd guess.

This as opposed to Tea Party rallies in which the level of trash afterwards was apparently VERY SMALL (and piled near trash cans when they overflow).

      http://goodsensepolitics.blogspot.com/2009/09/compare-garbage-after-tea-party-vs.html

So yeah, who IS going to clean that up? THEY say THEY will. I wouldn't hold my breath... well, I guess I'd hold my breath anyway, because the stench of the DOG CRAP will be pretty foul.

Yeah, they CLAIM they'll clean it up, but they're "fulla crap". had to say that.

Well, you're certainly bombastically ignorant. Woodstock was a capitalist endeavor to make money off of hippies. The ticket price in 1969 dollars was $18 for three days ( $120 current USD, 93.24 current GBP.) The capitalists who sold the tickets were responsible for hauling the trash away.

People holding an event for which a fee is charged are responsible for cleaning it up, but sometimes they're fulla crap.

People holding an event for which a fee is charged are responsible for cleaning it up, but sometimes they're fulla crap.

In this case.. the doogie doo is there before the event so its on the backs of the parks and recreation service to clean the area before the event. Its not part of the event.

But its all moot, because the event was cancelled out of concern that there will be violence. From both the right and the left.

The reality is that this wasn't an ALT-RIGHT group. This was a group that wants to protect our first amendment rights which are being shut down by the left. Seriously this is fscked up. People are afraid to speak their mind because they are afraid of being attacked.

They cancelled the event because they knew that the Alt-Left (BLM, Antifa and other organizations ) were already planning for armed protest. However, there was evidence that 'white supremacists' and other alt-right groups were planning to attend to make the event violent and to clash with the protesters.

Note: California is home to both Alt-Left (Antifa ) and Alt-Right (Neo-Nazi , 'White Supremacists') factions who both have had violent protests and attacks.

Things are a bit more complicated that what you see in the Guardian and other newsprint. A lot of this is dumb'd down for the masses. This is also why Trump's comments were taken out of context and people didn't understand what he was saying about Charlottesville. (Nobody but the neo-nazis and ISIS would condone somebody running people down with a car.)

Things are getting out of hand and this SHIT STORM was caused by the Dems.

The Antifa movement is more about anarchy than is for anything. Some members have gone on record saying that they justify their violence as 'self defense'.

People getting attacked for having a hair cut or wearing a white shirt and khakis and accused of being 'White Supremacists'.... Or for wearing a Trump hat... not good.

To give you an example... a group of school aged kids were in D.C on a school trip. They had scheduled to eat lunch at Howard University. Some had Trump's MAGA hat and were verbally assaulted by University students. (Think about that for a second... ) Adults verbally harassing school kids on a school trip. (teens/tweens)

To make matters worse... The University apologizes to the students of the University for having to be inflicted with someone wearing a MAGA hat, rather than chastise the college students for acting inappropriately.

This entire thing came about because they said they support free speech and because they have the word "patriot" in their rally title. The media and the "left" (by which I mean the regressive "you aren't allowed to think that you rapist alt-right nazi scum" authoritarians who align with the left) have talked up a shitstorm, claiming that it's a white supremacist group without any evidence beyond the fact that the group says it stands for free speech.

Yes. The reporter (guy in the red top who leapt in to save him) said at the time he thought "they're going to kill him". He also reported there was a line of police who could see what was happening but didn't intervene.

This clip is the same location and people a few minutes before. The person who ended up on the ground being beaten was just behind the two in this clip. These two managed to get away. To howls of "pussy" from the aggressive mob pursuing him. I would have been running from my life by that point, so I don't see why.

Very aggressive, pro-violence. And I heard someone try to support it by saying the victims were deliberately provoking the aggression by, I kid you not, "speaking against marxism".

No it does not. At least compared to what we used a couple of times during student protests in one unnamed Eastern European country.

      Recipe for counter-demonstration:

      1. Several boxes of eggs

      2. Liquid culture of Bacillus Subitils from the microbiology department. This is the preferred option as it will produce the desired result while being harmless to humans (that is official - FDA says so). Other bacteria or just plain soil in water will do too, but may result in you being blamed for producing bio weapons.

      3. Syringe with hypodermic needle and superglue. Carefully inject each egg with ~ 0.1 ml and seal the hole with superglue.

      4. Incubate over night at 37C.

          Err... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_sulfide

The stench of rotten eggs is not H2S, it is thioles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiol). All of them are toxic to some extent too, but there is a major difference compared to H2S. H2S is toxic at the concentration where it stinks to high heaven. Thioles on the other hand stink to high heaven long before they become toxic. For example the stench of Butyl-mercaptane can be barely tolerated at ppb (not even ppm). In fact a concentration of thioles which is toxic will knock you out flat as a stun grenade by stench alone long before it is toxic. They also have an interesting side effect - they saturate their receptors so people exposed to them stop feeling the stench. As a result they walk around still thinking to high heaven without understanding why everyone else avoids them.

It's easy to do when a Democrat mayor makes sure the police are held way, way back to give them room to swing and throw.

A person, firm, or corporation convicted of a violation of this section shall be punished by a mandatory fine of not less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) upon a first conviction, by a mandatory fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) upon a second conviction, and by a mandatory fine of not less than seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000) upon a third or subsequent conviction.

And dumping animal waste on a beach or adjacent to a waterway or storm drain (in addition to being a dick move) will also put people at risk of some more draconian penalties under environmental law for jacking with water quality. So if you were thinking about it, don't. It will only make you and your side look like a-holes anyway. "I'm pretty sure it's not legal to leave the emissions from your dog's behind behind in California"

it's not - you're supposed to pick it up and dispose of it. In San Francisco that might require taking it to some kind of inconvenient "disposal center" but for the rest of us, use one of those single-use plastic bags [the kind california recently made illegal for grocery stores to bag your food in, so I do "no bags" now so I don't have to buy "re-usable" ones] and if you hold the bag around your hand properly, you can safely grab the doggie land mine and wrap the bag around it. SAFE! [plastic mitts, in convenient dispensers, also provided in some areas for this very purpose]

So yeah, you're SUPPOSED to pick up the dog crap and throw it out or something. And if it's wrapped in plastic, it would help cut back on the smell a bit... [I wonder if those free plastic mitts have deoderizer on them]

But yeah, it's pretty much state wide from what I understand, though at the city/county level and not a state law. Pretty sure. Otherwise, in coastal communities, a big rain storm would wash a bunch of dog crap right into the ocean from the storm drain overflow [same if the dog crap is on the beach]. So yeah, it needs to be cleaned up. We don't want high bad-bacteria levels in the water.

And so the protesters would've had to accumulate a bunch of crap-bags from the usual walks where they had to pick it up. That should complete the picture, I guess.

[seeing the other post, with reference to 'dumping', that might be a different thing entirely]

          Re: Fines?

Gee, finally something BB is qualified to write about - though even this he doesn't know about.

I've done a lot of walking around lots of parts of San Francisco lately, and I've seen zero dog poop. Plastic bags for veggies are still legal, and are better than grocery bags for picking up poop - and I have first hand experience,

August in San Francisco is not a time where you have to worry about rain storms washing poop out to sea.

As for them cleaning it up, I'm betting they will. A few years back I was at a riot at Berkeley where they burned a car. Turned out that they bought the car to burn, and when some over-exuberant protesters smashed a store window the organizers paid the owner for the damage.

Bottom line - you don't know crap about crap in SF.

You sound like a Ten Year Tourist. Lots of dog shit on the streets in SF. Just try the streets around any of the street people encampments. Although at least in places like the Mission, SoMa, Tenderloin its fifty/fifty its actually human shit. The old local name for Duboce Park was Dog Shit park. Way before your time. That was back in the 1980's / 1990's. The only reason the park got a major revamp was because most of the park was unusable due to dog shit and street people shooting up.

Native born San Franciscians are a very tolerant lot. And a very conservative lot. In fact a majority of the ones I know who voted last time around voted Trump. Not talking the trustafarians or those whose middle class hippy parents bought a run down Victorian for $30K in the 70's. I'm talking the working class ones who were mostly forced out by the no-growth white middle class outsiders (mostly out of state) who colonized large part of the city from the 1960's onwards. The blow ins on the other hand are the most intolerant, doctrinaire, and low information people you could possibly meet. Go to any "demo" in SF and you will have to search long and hard to find anyone who lived in SF for more than ten years. And the vast majority will have left in ten years time.

The fastest way to shut up some loud mouth progressive spouting off in SF is to simply ask them how long they have lived in SF. The answer is usually a few years at most. And having watched generations of these loud mouths come and go over the decades I have come to think of them as tourists. Just like the natives do. Little different from any of the mindless hoards you see down at Fisherman Wharf and Upper Haight or all the other completely fake and phony tourist attractions. So in SF "Progressive" is pretty much synonymous with short term resident tourist.

So, no, there is no free speech in SF. Due to the arrogant intolerance of these temporary and transient residents.Who are overwhelming white middle class and who grew up in affluent suburbs. And half are out of state. They will try to shout down anyone who dares to disagree with them. Luckily they mostly herd, mostly reside in the same few neighborhoods. A quick to find out where all the "progressives" live in SF is to look at the racial distribution of areas in the city. See all those white clusters? Thats were all the "progressives" live. They live in the least diverse and racially integrated neighborhoods in SF

So very much like Portland. Which will soon be almost as white as northern Idaho. Funny that. All the white "progressives" live in the whitest neighborhoods. My neighborhood has gone from working class / lower middle class white / to working class / middle class asian over the decades. And not a "progressive" to be seen anywhere. The Real San Francisco.

You should try it. The Real San Francico. Live here for at least 15/20 years and you will start getting to know the locals and discover what a very nice small town it can be. And you will start, like all the locals, to politely ignore all the Ten Year Tourists as little more than the spoiled noisy brats they actually are. Who will be soon gone anyway.

Interesting point brought up... I too remember dog shit turning white over time from back when. It doesn't seem to do that anymore, at least I don't see it anymore (and I have a dog and walk him where other dogs roam, so I see a good share of aging turds).

What's up with that? Have there been any changes in composition of dog food or something?

Antifa protesters and other rioters aren't doing any equivalent of fighting WW2 against Nazis. they are busy causing riots and damaging people/property to create CHAOS, which is how they operate. It's a form of TERRORISM to do that. And it's being TOLERATED by left-leaning gummint and law enforcement "people in charge".

RIOTERS should be SHOT. The National Guard can handle that. If I were the mayor of a town where Antifa started rioting, I'd call them in when the first window gets broken, or the first firecracker is thrown at a cop. That'll fix it.

Peaceful protest marches are more effective. They get the word out. No need to start a riot.

It's also interesting how Intifada 1, which was mostly non-violent, would have fared wrt Israeli policy of mostly no meaningful dialog, settlement extension and occasional violence. Would the world have veered towards South African style boycotts and divestment? Would Israelis have realized that their current military dominance and perhaps fleeting US superpowerdom makes this the ideal time to cut a deal?

Intifada 2 fucked that up and current Hamas and internal Palestinian terrorism makes it unlikely that Israel will face any significant international pressure until too late.

To go back to the OPs point: violent protest is unjustified against the Nazis at this place and time. They are not about to take power and they would likely face prosecution if they turned violent themselves, much as certain toupee-wearing fools feel ambivalent. There are no real Nazis at this time. Those that call themselves that are a bunch of idiots out to get a little publicity and to parade their stupidity before us all. They're too small in number to even worry about... the idea that there has to be an "Antifa" movement to oppose them is laughable. They're irrelevant, right until the media makes them into a story that is relevant.

The leftists out there in Antifa know this... they're deliberately trying to conflate the irrelevant and laughable "Nazi" and "KKK" idiots with anything even remotely right-wing, in a massive attempt at a strawman fallacy. If you make your political opponents into literal Nazis, it makes it so much easier to oppose them than if you had to debate their actual political opinions! Never mind that their neo-Marxist beliefs are only a hair's breadth from actual fascist beliefs, and that what is meant by "right-wing" these days is about as far from fascism as one can get. Small, decentralized government, deregulation, individual liberty, low taxes, free enterprise, unrestricted speech... none of that is any more popular with fascists than it is with communists.

Or the part where there were beatings and torture.

Or the bit where the one country got split into two countries (mostly because of a Rotund alcoholic racist, whose currently living spawn is a chubby girl called Victoria) on the basis that if we can't have it, we'll fuck it up good and proper for everyone else..

AntiFa are currently running a campaign to get the alt right shut down, removed from the internet and ban/stop any speech or rallies using force. Yes or No?

So they are doing the things they are supposed to be standing up against.

Lets look at some of the definitions of fascism,

forcible suppression of opposition - Check

control of industry and commerce - Check with the internet

dictatorial power - Only takes one person to step up as their leader, I've seen that somewhere before. maybe last century, thinking Germany for some reason?

radical authoritarian nationalism - comes after you establish the dictatorial power.

Also I would like to say I am offended by that picture, it's an insult to all who were in the war as they didn't do it so some prick could use their death as a meme for a fascist wannabe organisation.

This ones for the down voters.

What are you? You are a populist movement who due to your large number of followers can influence and coerce governments and corporations against minorities. Now I don't agree with these minorities at all but when you have a populist movement they could find offence at something else which I do agree with. Then where are we? That's right were back on our way to a totalitarian world, you know the one you are against. It's already begun, you fight hate speech but who defines hate speech, you oppress opinion when it doesn't match your own rather than discussing it. The governments of the world are now doing your bidding by spying on everyone to find the people you claim not to like or whose opinion doesn't match the majority. One day it will be turned round on yourselves because you have allowed yourself to be in this position.

These Nazis you hate and want to oppress are nothing compared to the Nazis from the left leaning socialist movement that Hitler founded. Look at history, it's not the far right you have to worry about, it's the populist movements who eventually become the thing you hate.

I feel I waste my time with these comments because people just don't see it, populist movements create totalitarian governments because they allow them the powers needed to do it.

So please feel free to throw dogshit and get violent against a few Nazis, it won't do you any good but at least you'll feel better when it all really goes to shit.

In politics, you have the following that DEFINES left, right, and center:

              |Far Left|internationalists

              |Left|Social Democrats

              |Center|democrats, religious retards

Nazi Germany fought in Spain against republicans (democrats, communists, and social democrats)

NSDAP had tried to put all social democratic and communist MP's into concentration camps ...

Socialism is on the road map to Communism, theoretically ...

In practice, Socialism does not lead to Communism as under Socialism, the workers take power, "Diktatur der Arbeiterschaft" to quote Marx in his language ... the catch is, once "workers" get to power they cease to be workers ... a thing Marx and Engels did not realize ... we are all humans and humans tend to cling to power, especially if the "workers" get to rule in a dictatorship.

I am appalled by this revisionism ... facebook is full of it ... as Goebbels once said "Repeat a lie often enough and it will become perceived truth." The problem is, you have been contaminated by this Nazi BS and that is the problem, that is why Nazism is outlawed in Germany, because it is full of shit. They lie, all the time, like Farrage, Le Pen, Bush, Trump, you name 'em ... however, a lie repeated often enough gets you a long way, how many million for the NHS, again ????

Go read some history books, mate ... all I can say ...

Your classification of what left and right means seems to be what is retarded, as it groups together a lot of people who have nothing to do with each other under each section. A better definition of what keft and right means is to understand that they are not political philosophies, but political marketing strategies, with the left being the ones who claim to be morally superior, and the right claiming to be competent. As such, it is better to ignore the irrelevant left/right caterwauling and instead consider individual policies in their own terms without pretending that left or right means anything at all.

"this whole "National Socialist" mantra was deception to get the workers"

That is the point I was making, however you seem to have missed the main point which is that populism leads to totalitarian governments.

People seem to be under this illusion (probably created by the press) that because you are attacking people that deserve to be attacked then it's all good when in reality you are being herded towards something that won't end well.

You've studied history and the one question that gets asked a lot is why or how did the German people get on board with such appalling ideologies and commit atrocities. The answer to that is populism, when you get the majority to agree with your principles the sheep mentality kicks in and everyone thinks it's good because you are doing the right thing.

If I was a gambling man, which I am (I play the lottery, fucking waste of time) I would bet that this current populist majority are being conditioned to hate Nazis and religious fuck nuggets and love the LGBT community. Therefore the right wing side will kick in at some point and go after the intolerant gay hating terrorist sexist women mutilating paedophile Muslims (these words are from the press and have nothing to do with my opinion of Muslims) which would work out quite nice for the oil dependent world. It'a also quite ironic that this is also Trumps plan as well and he comes across as far right.

I've placed my bet and I'll be back in say 5-10 years to repost this comment if I am right.

Moral of the story is "before you get all offended and join a movement attacking another group step back and think about why and what is the bigger picture, are you being used? or better yet don't attack others regardless of how unpalatable their opinion is because then you are no better than them"

I am sick and tired of this strawman. The eternal insistence by those that need to describe the Nazis as Right Wing that the only reason anyone considers them Left Wing is because they have Socialist in the name.

Well firstly, it's not worthless that they called themselves Nationalist Socialists. They did have socialist identification and doctrine whether you like it or not. Secondly, the argument that they were Left wing is NOT just stupid people who are easily fooled by a word. Mein Kampf contains a lot of heavy influences from Marx and Nazism also included a lot of seizure of private property and re-distribution of wealth. They had heavy state intervention in business. Wages and working hours were in numerous cases determined by "worker councils" that the Nazis set up between workers and managers, giving formal representation to workers. Not as extreme as Communism's wholesale handing over to the working class, but definitely on that spectrum far to the Left. They also formalized the Unions as the "German Labour Front" and merged this with the government department of economics. A quotes from a German business leader of the time: "These Nazis think of nothing but re-distributing the wealth."

The greatest schism between the Nazis (Fascism) and the Communists, is that the former were nationalistic and the latter internationalist.

This very tired and very erroneous meme of affecting that the only reason anyone thinks the Nazis were Left wing is because they have "Socialist" in their name needs to die a death. It's patronising and it's also wrong. It exists solely because people on the Left don't want to own up to the Nazis being part of them.

So, 200-300 people show up in a 130-acre field and shout hateful slogans...

...and we all ignore them, or take pictures of their pathetic little tirade from afar and make mocking Twitter posts. It's FAR more effective than confronting them in any way, which garners them the media coverage they so crave, plus if any violence breaks out, they get to play the victim.

Ignore them and they'll go away.

    Yes, alt-right are idiots, but...

But all they're doing is having their little get-togethers. Or posting crap on the Internet. Anyone who disagrees with them has the right to protest their views PEACEFULLY, but why is it necessary to start flinging (or depositing) excrement and acting like a bunch of childish wankers? It would be more dignified to just stand around with anti-nazi signs or, at most, chant or sing. Escalating to your own hate speech and poo-flinging and other such behavior just makes you look like wankers and helps validate their own feelings more. Even if they're spouting total bollocks, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK, just like everyone else has the right to speak. To do anything to abridge their right to speak is to act much like the real Nazis did with their SA thug tactics.

    Disagree with them? Fine

    Protest PEACEFULLY against them? Fine

Throwing stuff or "mining" their meeting place? NOT Fine!

You object to the alt-right because you consider their views to be anathema to beliefs held by civilization. SO ACT CIVILIZED YOURSELVES!

How far do you think Dr. Martin Luther King would have gotten with the sort of childish tactics the protesters are using nowadays? The leaders of the Civil Rights Movement practiced NON-violence and dignity, and they WON.

Re: Yes, alt-right are idiots, but...

Speaking of Dr King, here's what he thought of "muh both sides" centrist "moderates":

"I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection."

      1. h4rm0ny

Re: Yes, alt-right are idiots, but...

Taking a quote from Martin Luther King in one context and transplanting it to a very different situation doesn't make it applicable. King was dealing with very real racial segregation and disenfranchisement. These people are violently opposed to Free Speech. One is not like the other.

MLK was also a devout Christian so would likely be very sympathetic to these people who so far as I can tell, chiefly want to have a public prayer meeting. MLK was also a strong believer in non-violence, inspired by Mahatma Ghandi.

Frankly, quoting MLK on racial discrimination in favour of Antifa types shit-bombing a group of Christians speaking out in favour of Free Speech is appalling misrepresentation of him.

As a lefty, it bothers me that there's such an anti-free speech thread through much of the 'left', it makes extremists on both sides. There's always got to be free speech, nobody has the right to not be offended.

I hesitate to call such groups the left though, ask most of them an economic justice question and they have nothing to give. Ask them about their facebook page, and they'll whip out their iphone, ask about fair taxation they have no answer. Sadly.

    1. Eddy Ito

The thing is that it's more than a left-right split. There's also a forward (latitudinarian) and backward (authoritarian) split as well. One can be either left or right without being backward and you'll get backward authoritarians on both sides as well whether they're backward-right like the neo-nazis or backward-left like the antifa folks. There is also a strong sense of tribalism in the backward mindset and typically there is little concern beyond "the tribe" which is why they have no real response to issues that don't involve good tribe - bad tribe or the response is to simply blame the bad tribe for whatever is wrong.

I fear it is getting worse as the two main political US parties are doing little more than fanning the flames of this tribalism with their hyperbolic rhetoric. Then again maybe I shouldn't be surprised since both parties are largely dominated by authoritarians as latitudinarians usually aren't interested in being in control.

    White dog egg

Contrary to what is stated in the article, it is not ageing that turns dog eggs white.

There are some exotic medical conditions that can result in the white stuff, but the most usual reason for it is a diet rich in calcium. Which is what happens when dogs are given bones to gnaw on.

So the reason you don't see so many white dog eggs these days is that most dog owners feed their dogs canned food or dried biscuity things rather than giving them bones to gnaw on.

Incidentally, am I the only one who views EDF's "Zingy" mascot as being composed of one dog egg laid on top of another dog egg, with the upper egg being artfully crimped off by the dog's arse?

Alt-right is just another attempt to pretend that the left-right scale actually stood for something.

Like the emperor with no clothes on, people can't admit that they were fooled by such a pathetic attempt to map out political differences using only one variable, so they continue to bend it, often literally, to fit the reality it fails to describe. They are mostly afraid that if they point out it doesn't work then people will think they're stupid.

In the 1930s in Italy, if one spoke out against the government, black shirted men would visit to have a discussion. The purpose of the discussion was to point out the errors in one's thought. Part of this discussion involved the person in error consuming a large quantity of cod liver oil and experiencing the laxative effects before being dumped in the middle of the town.
