It's related. Trump, being a thin skinned petulant spoilt brat that skirts bankruptcy, will be offended by Bezos being successful, even more so without the privileged background that Trump enjoyed, and may well use his position to influence the fortune of an important tech company.

So both relevant and with an IT angle.

Lets talk about something more interesting - like what is Bezos going to do with all that dosh? Apparently not solving world hunger/poverty/disease...

Do you really think money will solve hunger? Go send a bunch of food to a country with famine, and see how much actually ends up in the hands of those who are hungry, versus the dictators or warlords who run the country and want to keep the population on dependent on them for handouts.

You can read Bezos on the subject of you want. He apparently sees Blue Origin as one step along the route to the survival of humankind (all very Star Trek) and the Washington Post as a means to educate, thereby reducing hunger/poverty/disease by reducing their causes.

Not as literal as the Gates' foundation but who's to say not effective. Education and technology have historically been more effective at reducing medium to long term poverty than charity.

By this time next year, Gates will own no Microsoft shares.

He's been selling 20m shares each quarter for the past 15 years.

That's probably the biggest reason has personal valuation has dropped.
