Detectives have arrested two men in the UK this morning in connection with an international "conspiracy" to break into the Microsoft network. The two 20-somethings are in police custody. The coppers, based in the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit, are investigating "unauthorised intrusion into networks that Microsoft …

And yet no police action on M$ hacking into every victim's Win10 install, logging private info. One law for the rich... Don't even think (plot) against M$.

I'd like to think that the original Microsoft denial, before nervous lawyers toned it down, went something like this:

"No customer data was accessed, and we're confident in the integrity of our software and systems... Bob Doe (53) of Boise, Idaho - the video record of the 30 seconds you spent excavating your nostrils in front of your webcam last Tuesday evening is safe with us. Molly Bloggs of Ottowa - that sexytimes note you drafted in Notepad on Monday will remain a secret between you, your boyfriend, us, and carefully-and-rigorously-selected third party marketing partners. And Tim Smith-Smythe - we know which websites you went to last week from your house in Acacia Avenue, Stoke-on-Trent, but fortunately you used Edge's Privacy Mode so only we and the Five Eyes intelligence agencies know... the hackers didn't get that either. But you might want to wipe your keyboard now. Use the yellow cloth that's to the left of your coffee-cup. No, not that one, the other one."

Maybe their defence will be based on "they started it, so there.".

That would have at least some entertainment value. Given the large amount of law enforcement clubs involved I reckon there must be more than circumstantial evidence.

[MS response, from the article] We have comprehensive measures in place to prevent, detect, and respond to attacks.

LOL. You're Microsoft. Unless those measures have been invented by others and then acquired or stolen à la Stacker that statement means exactly nothing. Nice try, though.

Because you can trust what Microsoft says..

    Not ..

Like when Xbox live got hacked on a grand scale, and they pretended it wasn't happening....
