back to article Dark web hacking forum hacked and members' privates exposed

In a deliciously ironic turn, the dark web hacking forum Nulled.io has had its user database stolen and published for all to see. Nulled is a forum where hackers exchange stolen credit card and identity details, malware-creation kits, and cracks to common software platforms. Unnamed hackers have broken into the site's database …

    20 .gov email accounts

...20 .gov email accounts listed in the database, indicating that state-sponsored hacking teams were active on the site, including those from the United States, Philippines, Brazil,...

Just out of curiosity, Brazilian and other countries are using .gov addresses or accounts that seems to be from the Brazilian government? Some Brazilian security researchers (or, as you call them, state-sponsored hackers) may use .br, or .nameinstitute.br e-mails... if foreign hackers are using USA .gov accounts kudos for them :-)

      Re: 20 .gov email accounts

I took that statement to mean that it was the likes of .gov.br or .gov.uk, (and also .gov since the US is mentioned in the list). Not that all are just plain old .gov addresses...

Personally, I'm not sure how easy it is to draw the conclusion that there state sponsored hackers just because they have a .gov address. More likely they're compromised .gov addresses, being used as a funnel, but who knows? If they really are government employees, they probably are stupid enough to use there work email address on a forum such as this... ;)

      Re: Dark web?

Time to start a new evil project: The Dork Web. Use an old version of PHPBB to power it. Put in there pictures of naked ugly people, malware that mainly infects the 1337 hax0rs's own computer, recipes for explosives as dangerous as a squirrel's fart, torrents with alluring names but without seeders. Make it apparently very hard to get into by not using the www. prefix. Spread the word and see what happens some time later.

      Hey, dorkweb.org is available! :-)

Gotta love it when a cracking forum is cracked:-)

I do. The irony and payback of it all is most pleasant.

Isn't it curious for all the stories on leaks, not a one has a link to the leak itself?

      WTF?

Linking to stolen content. Yup, that would go down well.

        It's not stolen; it's shared.

    Location data?

What exactly is the value of having that much logging on a dark web forum in the first place?
