back to article T-Mobile US triples profit, adds two million customers

The Q4 results show the company's net income jumped to $297m from $101m one year previously. It also pulled in an additional 2.1 million …

    Stats

Lots of numbers there and a headline. Could we have some numbers that relate to each other say across timescales and so on please? The final point of share increase equals revenue increase is a fair one but it's hard to judge from the other numbers scattered about as to what is going on. A hint as to market share would be nice as well.

    Anyway, proper numbers please.

      Re: Stats

The key stat noted in the article is T-Mobile is adding 1 to 2 million customers per quarter for over 2 years and they are apparently keeping them. In a mature market this means their market share has improved at someone's expense. Given the US population, it sounds like they have about 1/4 of the US market.

This article and the one from last year in the "More from the Register" section: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/11/11/tmobile_megahack_cost_experian_20m_with_class_actions_to_come/ have the same picture. Reuse much, eh?

    I'm a fan

Moved away from Verizon when the iPhone 6S came out. I've been really impressed with TMo coverage; its either the same, or better than Verizon where I've travelled in the US. Where it really excels is international travel. I no longer have to play the game of coming out of airplane mode to update Google maps and back to airplane to conserve the 100mb of roaming data for $40 deal from Verizon.

They did screw the pooch over BingeOn, but I'm glad I could just opt out.

    Proof

Further proof that the proposed ATT-T Mobile merger was a bad idea.

If anything it shows that the US need more choice, not less in cellphone companies.
