    The New Storage Players

    Thanks Enrico and you're right that the enterprise storage marketing is changing - flash at the high end transactional side and object/content optimized storage at the capacity side. Object Storage is a great fit for private cloud but it needs more - it needs to be multi-tenanted. People are deploying as a data service where they can run multiple applications against the same storage. This includes features like Quality of Service (to make sure service levels are maintained) and configurable data policies (so you can control which data is encrypted, archived or protection level). It also requires user self service capability while maintaining enterprise IT control. At Cloudian, where I work, we build Cloudian HyperStore S3 native object storage for large enterprise Private Clouds and Service Providers.
