This par for course for polititians.
"The Department hilariously demanded that journalist Asher Wolf “return” the documents she accessed in breaking the story."
I recall several years ago about a government website that due to a screwup on the mob building it, made it go live about a month early.
A fairfax reporter had obtained through an "informat" the proposed URL that was going to be used for the site, and accessed it as one would access any website. There were no data leaks here, the site was as it would be ready for official release a month ahead.
Well, a polititian found about about this (after the reporter reported it, saying it was wonderful and early) and started screaming blue bloody murder. He demanded the "informant" be revealed, and the journalist be charged for hacking.
Well, neither happened, but Fairfax made the polititan look like a right tool.
This is not the first or last time this will happen, for as long as we have brainless polititians, we'll have a plentiful supply of entertainment.
