back to article 'WOMAN FOUND ON MARS' – now obvious men are from Venus

Yet again citizen observers have spotted something odd on Mars – this time what appears to be a woman in a long flowing gown standing on a cliff face. Martian woman The truth is out there; or maybe not "It looks like a woman partly cloaked. The woman seems to have breasts... indicated by the shadow on its chest," reports …

Yes but why is she riding a unicycle and what's that on her head if it's not the Martian equivalent of a duck?

Yeah you'd think they'd have pointed that out in the article. The 9th paragraph after the picture would've been a great place to do so. Maybe next time.

    I expect "she"

will be revealed to be about 10cm tall at which point 'UFO Sightings Daily' will explain she's a fairy and albeit of the wingless Martian kind.

Also, I can't see any breasts but I she looks topless to me. Oh gawd, now I'm doing it.

Face of Mars? Yes, definitely interesting.

Woman of Mars? No. Not even close.

I'm waiting for the picture of Jesus on Mars. Although the Face of Mars might indeed be him, seeing as it's been discovered that Jesus had no beard...

    1. Martin Budden

I'm genuinely surprised no-one yet has suggested it's the Virgin Mary On Mars.

      Oh bugger, I just did.

    2. MrXavia

      Face of mars.. meh...

I find the Cydonia pyramids more interesting, one is a 5 sided pyramid that looks partially covered in sand/dust on one side from years of sandstorms...

Now is it artificial? unlikely, but until someone takes a look we will never know!

    Ray Bradbury called it...

Ray Bradbury wrote a short story called 'Ylla' in 1948. Ylla was a Martian woman trapped in a loveless marriage who picks up the impending arrival of the first astronauts from Earth and, through telepathy, falls in love with one of them. Cue jealous husband, with Martian shotgun, at the landing site and Oh my god, it's coming right for me! TWICE!

So we can assume that this woman is also called Ylla and she's fallen in love with... a machine (ouu err!). Expect jealous hubby to be along with his shotgun any time now...

The two phrases I took away from TFA were:

However, a statue that small would be eroded and destroyed easily, so it has a higher chance of being a living being.

Which should just provoke an raging debate about the statistical likelihood of either of those.

    Why did we bother going?

Not sure why anyone bothered sending such expensive probes and rovers to Mars in the first place. All they really needed to do was come read the Reg forum, because everyone here knows what's on Mars, the nature of everything there, its history, its geology and chemical makeup. Here, we know that there is no life on Mars, never has been, never will be and we'd even go so far as to suggest, in our expert opinion, that there are no aliens, anywhere, ever, 'cos it's so insane to even use the word or imply we might be wrong.

Amazing really that there is nothing that is even vaguely mysterious anywhere in all of the Universe, and such a shame that we know everything beyond even the vaguest of doubts.

Science is done, and all the answers are right here.

  44. Come to the Dark Side

    Curiosity indeed

Tis an odd one, whatever it is is casting a shadow also, is a different texture from the surroundings and the surface "facing" the camera is darker than it should be for being on the non-shaded face.

This is why we need people on Mars and not robot golf carts with a go-pro bolted on.

Also, it would seem highly likely that pareidolia is simply what the brain does. Otherwise how does language arise? I'd argue that the mind is just recursive pattern-recognition on steroids.
