The move is also in line with Robbins' stated desire to flatten out the Borg's burgeoning bureaucracy. First Rob Lloyd and Gary Moore were given pink-slips, and later, …

    Unwinnable battle

Convenient scapegoats. There's no way Cisco can win in China - Huawei and ZTE are entrenched, outspend it massively on R&D, are way cheaper, and post-Snowden, no self-respecting Chinese would take Cisco gear even if it were given away for free. What's more, other emerging markets are likely to follow.

Good luck winning China without packing you your HQ and moving to Switzerland. Oh, and cutting the overwhelming majority of your legal ties and entanglements with the US as well.

Cisco, your American Legal Attack Surface is simply too high, and your government has proven time and again that they care for you only so long as they can use you to spy on their enemies. Should've spent more money lobbying Washington back in the days that you were the unchallenged masters of your market and everyone locked in to your product.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. CAGR will be a bitch from here on out, so get used to the new normal.

    Are those real names?

Wim Elfrink, Padmasree Warrior and Edzard Overbeek.

Yes, those are real names, real people. At one point I was in Edzard's organization and spoke with him on a couple of occasions - to me he seemed a smart and good guy, and obviously a C-suite exec in the making. Wim and Padmasree I only knew from teleconferences/videos. Wim's presentations always left me with a feeling of confusion - "WTF did he just say?". Padmasree - well - presented like a gattling gun, and I doubt she really had a clue what she was talking about... Check out Brad Reese's blog.
