back to article The USB Lego, bluetooth coffee cups and connected cats of Computex 2015

Taiwan's technology industry likes to position the annual Computex expo as the week in which it shows off its ingenuity to the world. This year's show might just have shown that Taiwan - and the rest of us - are in a bit of a rut. Last year, I couldn't move at Computex without stumbling over a booth offering a zillion …

    Hmm...

A real cat would quickly overturn that device with one of those little robots, and then smash the lid off it with one of your USB Lego bricks.

You would come home to find your obese moggy sat in the middle of a debris field, chewing on one of your bluetooth coffee cups.

Not pleasant, but better than the alternative you appear to be suggesting; at least you can frighten the cats off with a water pistol ... oh, hold on, new IoT thought ... off to Kickstarter ...

That's not a cat feeder, it's obviously a coffee grinder or blender.

The question is: will it blend??

        Re: Hmm...

Coffee was what I thought although it was "Is this DIY Kopi Luwak" rather than a grinder that came to mind.

        Re: Hmm...

I thought it was supposed to be a cat-on-a-treadmill powered coffee grinder. I couldn't imagine any real cats falling for that though.

Real cats are like anime Super Robots to the Internet of Things.

      Very irritable, too.

      Breitenberg's vehicles better scurry.

Me too, after Civ 2, I think the whole series took a downward turn.

    I need more power...

Why do we need more USB ports in our cars? Well, when I go cross country in the family minivan, we have four smartphones, 3 iPads, and a GPS unit. I use two Aukey 48W/9.6A 4 Port USB car chargers to keep them all up and running.

Such a far cry from my youth when our only forms of entertainment on a long trip was a coloring book, license plate bingo, and staring at the scenery. Naviagation was done by a Rand McNally atlas, AAA Trip-tik, and/or a gas station map... Sigh...

Just because that's what we did, doesn't make it better.

I would of loved to be able to plug in my sega master system in the car !!

Tell me about it. One of my teens recently complained because there had been about 10 seconds of stuttering in an HD movie he was live-streaming to his tablet as we drove 200miles at around 70mph.

I took them to the NMoC at Bletchley to make them appreciate their kit (and their connectivity) a bit more; it was meant as revenge but they actually loved it.

    Coffee cup speakers

I fail to see the point of the coffee cup speakers. They take up precious space on your mug tree! Okay, maybe most people don't have that many mugs. But "cruelly practical"?
