back to article Who's the auto tycoon that makes Apple employees swoon? It's ... MUSK!

Auto firm Tesla has taken advantage of Apple's new-found policy on poaching by hiring away staffers from the consumer electronics giant. According to a report from Bloomberg, the battery-powered automaker has hired away some 150 employees from the house that Steve Jobs built – more than any other single company – ranging from …

They will clearly need a crack defence team to argue their case for going 'round corners. I can't imagine a better place to source such counsel.

because a few years ago it might not have been allowed to happen.

Surely a few years ago it was even MORE likely to happen.

If Apple (allegedly) had deals with other silicon valley computer companies not to hire then the only place a disillusioned Apple insider (a pip?) could go would be outside the industry to someone like Tesla.

Now that the (alleged) deal is (allegedly) off - they can presumably get a job offer from all the other software companies so Telsa has to compete more strongly for hires.

Corporations are entities that exist for the benefit of share holders, employees and community and or society they serve. Today most corporations and their upper management seems to forget this. They see employees as numbers and are indifferent to the community beyond sales. Consequently, the true benefit of US corporation are sealed to just follow numbers. Apple has always promised this potential but has seal it fruit the worms of profit and control.

Re: because a few years ago it might not have been allowed to happen.

Corporations are not a real entity. They could not exist without government making them exist. They do NOT exist for the benefit of anyone except the primary shareholders. They do not exist for the benefit of the customers and certainly not the community. Corporations are a Fascistic creation and NOT a natural part of any free market. So to say that executives have forgotten some fantasy of what a 'Corporation' is supposed to be is to completely disregard what 'Corporations' actually are.

As for Tesla poaching employees... I say good. Hopefully they will be the competent ones.

Possibly it wouldn't have as it's possible that Tesla might have been in on the agreement. I'm really sure if they would have or not, thus "possible".

I don't believe they are double agent, just people with needed skills. Great job Elon awakening the passions of their heart, to be of greater benefit to the world.

Having your work make a real impact and become a difference maker is powerful. The passions of the heart cannot be denied. Employees are people and people want to believe in the heart. Corporations are entities and entities believe the numbers. On the job numbers matter, but the passion of the heart is undeniable and should not be taken for granted.

Like great customer service money is an after thought, to getting it right. I commend those that continue to live with their strong spirit of the heart.

    Oh great...

Tesla's battery chargers will now have prongs pulling off, left protruding from the socket and hot with line voltage. We're going to have to spend the rest of our lives turning them over to look for The Green Dot of Life.

    Sigh...
