    EU one stop shop has to be better than what we have now...

    Because you can forget about Ireland and its 'Spar' like DPC Headquarters in the middle of nowhere. Ireland loves its multinationals and will always behave toothless when its comes to applying data regulation... How does light-touch banking regulation sound lads? Lets party like its 2008 all over again..

    Not entirely true or fair

    The Irish DPC is FAR better than the Communications Regulator (Comreg) and the Financial Regulator.

    Of course that's not perhaps a good comparison.

    They did slap Sky's wrist once.

    Sounds encouraging

    There are significant cultural differences that need to be taken into account across Europe¹ when it comes to privacy and data protection, so this sounds like a sensible approach from what little detail is in the story.

    ¹ Notably, countries and regions East of what used to be called the Iron Curtain have rather strict data protection measures. I guess their memory of what can happen when someone knows too much about too many people is recent enough not to have been forgotten yet.
