back to article Drones swarm over bearded Brit billionaire's island getaway

Youtube Video Richard Branson has invested in 3D Robotics and set the firm’s drones loose over his tropical island Necker. The hirsute entrepreneur was captured by the drones playing tennis and kitesurfing, while the wee machines also captured “drone’s eye views” of the island. “It’s amazing to see what a little flying …

Maybe, instead of investing in 3D Robotics....

...Mr Branston should invest in a smoke alarm? I'm sure his insurance company would agree.

    Shy, retiring . .

Never one to miss out for a multiple-business advert.

(but what is the point of the bloody almostbutnotquite space jaunt?)

Oh suuuuuure, it STARTS with pretty pictures....

But then somebody pipes in with "Hey, why don't we let the drones take care of security?", and then the drones get armed with lasers or rocket nets or something, and then the security system goes haywire. Finally, you end up with some bastardized version of "The Most Dangerous Game" mixed with a little "Lord of the Flies".

Gosh, with all those armed flying cameras the TV syndication rights would be worth a fortune.

Am I the only one who bread this post and thought of Craig Charles fronting Robot Wars : Dogfight?

Hmm, in my case, it was the police drones from Dark Angel that came to mind first.

Still, first they are toys, then they will be police survellience, and then they will have the option to be law-enforcers, and armed (probably with less-lethal stuff to begin with, who knows for how long).

It is pretty much how military drones evolved over the last 20 years. From toys/target practice, to survellience, to the predetor and other armed drones.

The way things are going, in future we may see people hacking together some sort of small, basic surface-air-missle to take out drones that are bugging them.

Anyone willing to lend me this drone for a (sunny) day ?

Want to explore the moss on my roof don't want to risk climbing at my age.

On a totally unrelated note, I've heard rumours that Kim, our new neighbour up the street, sunbathes in buff in the courtyard when her husband is at work.

A/C, because I want to protect my identity.

Why did I think of Tracy Island when looking at the pictures.

Maybe with the island, technology gained from Virgin Galactic, and his altruistic tenancies will enable him to set up International Rescue?

Hmmm. Not got enough children though.

    I wonder

how they perform when up against a pair of well aimed Churchills ?

The drones can't be very good ...

... there's no sign of a gigantic tit called Richard in the middle of the island.

Should just fuck right off. The self aggrandising, appearing in every damned advert, dressing as a woman, pretending he's some sort of counter-culture revolutionary, rich boy adventurer, asset stripping shit that he is.

Started a business out of a phone box and pushed on through life from there.

Someone bought the rights to the VM brand and applied to a cable company,

part of the contract was for branson to appear on things.

      he has worked for it.

      You are just jealous.

he isnt a nob, he helps people.

if you had the money i am sure you would to (maybe not the help people bit, you sound like a total dick to be honest :) )
