All the Judges (nationwide) OTHER than the Supremes are elected. The reason the Supremes are appointed is because they serve for LIFE. They are intended to judge the way the President wants. Thank god they are more conservative than liberal or you'd be toast already.

All Federal judges (Supreme Court, Courts of Appeals, District Courts, as well as miscellaneous others such as bankruptcy courts, the Tax Court, &c.) are appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. The judges on the Courts of Appeals (there are at least 150 of them) also have lifetime tenure. There are ten states which have governors who appoint state judges with the consent of at least one chamber of the state legislature, and in four of these ten states, the state judges have lifetime tenure. In Virginia and South Carolina, it is the legislature rather than citizens of the state that elects state judges. Many states use a hybrid model which started in Missouri, in which a commission draws up a list of candidates, from which a governor appoints one, and at the next election the voters have a chance to eject the new judge from office; if the voters approve of the judge, he gets to serve out the remainder of his term.
And I wish people like you would pack up and move to somewhere like Somalia or Sudan. No laws or government there, it's all dog-eat-dog and devil take the weakest, just the way you like it. You're free to exploit others for your own gain, engage in social darwinism, and kill anybody you don't like. You can even staff your factories with slave labour, if you so wish. Saves having to pay all those lazy good-for-nothing lower-class plebeians, eh?

I have lived in the States (2 years, I liked it)
I worked 10 hour days 6 days a week, now I live in Spain though I'm a Brit, I pay my own medical insurance and expect nothing from anyone but that does not mean that I don't have a social conscience and care about the people around me whether I know them or not.
The ability to form society is one of the things that makes humans successful on an evolutionary scale.
From your post though I doubt you agree with evolution and I expect your notion of social conscience is telling a post traumatic, Vietnam Vet with no legs and a cup in front of him on the street to 'Get A Job! '.
Next time you manage to get your head out of your arse forget patriotism for a minute and have a really good objective look at the land of free and try to turn off the TV and read some real information about the world you live in. An alternative would be to apply for abdominal fenestration then you can keep your head up your arse and still have some small idea of what is genuinely going on around you.

Just to back up what others have said - you don't deserve to live in a decent country with real people. There are plenty of places, listed by another poster, where your psychopathy can be put to good use. You need to remember that Robert Heinlein was writing fiction, not handbooks for sociopaths.
For the record, I think the tax rate in the UK is too low, there is inadequate social provision, and everyone who is a citizen* should be given a minimum income by the government. People not yet citizens should have an entitlement too. Oh, yes - fuck the idea of immigration curbs.

I DO know what chav is and we have plenty of them here too, just slightly different. Evolution is proven science, I am NOT a right to lifer-holy roller. Robert Heinlein actually wrote some pretty damn good science fiction; but you OBVIOUSLY haven't read any of the good stuff, probably because you are an idiot and unable to understand it or how to read; since the public education system obviously failed you so glaringly. You are completely wrong in agreeing with giving away everything to people who don't/won't work, who would rather live off the dole than take any initiative of their own and get a job. The largest part of them should just be forced into working or let them suffer the pains of natural selection.
I believe (like Heinlein) that morons like you should not be able to vote in any election or be considered a "citizen" until you own property and have been gainfully employed for 5 years continuously.
