back to article Pirate Bay docks in Iceland

The Pirate Bay has found a new home in Iceland. The tectonically-challenged nation has network information centre, ISNIC, which tends the .IS domain and also performs other unglamorous work necessary to keep bits flowing around the country. TorrentFreak reports that ISNIC does not concern itself with the activities of those …

Let's see how this plays out.

The Icelandic don't like being told what to do by external entities. This'll be interesting...

On the other hand, having little aside from fish, free hot water, and (perhaps less so these days) finance they do need the rest of Europe etc.

Any chance of a pun on "cod war"

Iceland has also plenty of free and easy energy, and therefore plenty of industries necessitating tremendous amounts of energy, like turning alumina into aluminium. Or forgeries, and this sort of stuff.

    Pirates and prostitues

Must be two of the oldest trades in the world. I can't imagine either of them stopping in the near future.

Tell a prostitute that she can no longer stand on a street corner and she will move to the next street. Tell her that she is no longer welcome in town and she will move to the next town. ad infinitum.

I don't see Pirate Bay worrying any more than the prostitutes.

The seedy side of life is appealing to many, many people, It can never really be eradicated or stopped, it merely evolves with the rest of the population..

Hopefully enough that the increase in traffic won't impede my access to CCP's servers.

      It's not a helicopter it's a pod.

Given the servers are located in London, no it won't. :P

If you are referring to traffic limitations, it shouldn't be that big an impact. They have the torrent info, not the actual content itself.

...unless you're reference was to a plan to have some diver's plunder the cables (as has happened in recent news, in which case.)

Paris - because she probably knows more about "cables" than the rest of us.

    I may have dreamed this...

...but aren't Icelandic men outnumbered 2:1 by gorgeous blonde Viking girls? Why would they need porn?

But if that recent app is to believed, the gorgeous blondes are probably their cousins/sisters/worse.

That ship is about to sink

They can run but they can't hide. The will be convicted if they continue to support piracy.

How about a different tune? I'm kinda tired of hearing that one.

    Best solution

They should buy an old oil tanker, float it out in international waters, get a tap on an undersea cable and be out of the legal reach of everybody. For me, I'm going back to Usenet. It's the traditional way to pirate everything.

    WTF?

    Negative overload

It's hard not to imagine lawyers aren't looking for reasons? So you think they're NOT looking for reasons?
