    just because rackspace is using it

    doesn't mean you should be. Rackspace obviously has a significant chunk of internal developer talent to help manage/maintain/fix the system. 99% of other organizations won't have anything resembling that.

    When Red Hat releases their supported Openstack (based on the Openstack release from last fall) things should improve quite a bit for more normal prospects of OS, though don't go jumping into the deep end right away. Red hat was pretty up front with disclosing how the community around OS does not have much interest in supporting anything but the bleeding edge (which very common for open source projects that are evolving quickly). Fortunately most big important open source projects are mature and don't suffer from that mindset.

    Last I heard(end of last year) the RH Open stack stuff should be out of tech preview any time now.
