"a heady doubling of global mobile advertising spend"

... but no doubt, Microsoft's pubcenter eCPM will still remain utter crap.

    Oh the joy

Mindless popup/over crap animated ads, about as appealing as a pre-adolescent brat jumping up and down at the edge of your vision, yelling "lookit me" then proceeding to tell you about a really inane idea he's had.

Or the "Personalised" ads that insist on telling you about stuff you already kow about, have bought and are not in the market for, rather than what you will want next week.

Or the condescending twaddle from lowest-common-denominator marketing droids, insisting you want the latest it'll-never-work-otron.

And not forgetting the idiots who are so sure you'll want everything in their catalogue and insist on ramming it down your throat time and time again.

    Thank God for Adblock

    Stop

    In app ads...

The ones that are purposely placed on the screen to garner the most accidental taps?

Click fraud essentially and the elephant in the room with these stupid numbers.

    adblock ftw

It's even easier than fannying about with a PVR remote while trying to watch telly! Can you get it on phones nowadays - I might consider buying a new one for web access if so. Saying that - I guess it works either way because I'd pay for an App that didn't have fecking adverts...?

    Hahaha LOL

Well, all the cash printed up in the Bernanke The Evil Gnome's Subterranean Workshop that is being pyramided out via fracres banking to the hoi polloi has to end up somewhere, right.

You won't have a pension later, but at least you will get ads now. Enjoy.

I really do not know anyone who has found any of those adds useful or informative. I also do not know anyone who has willingly clicked on any of those adds apart from by mistake when it prerended to be a button or whatever (guess that works with less cimouter litterate folk).

Where is this imaginary and astronomical figures for ad revenue come from. I would love to see the real value figure that trully represents the global add market. Its all a pack of lies that ad companies feed to gullible business executives. I would seriously question sanity of my manager if he was to propose such ponzy scheme to me.

I do however appreciate search related non intrusive suggestions, but otherwise it is all but pest. Eye cancer and nothing more.

    Android vs. iOS

Anyone think iOS will drive as much growth in mobile ad revenue as Android will in the next five years? I know there's a healthy debate going on about this, and I'm not looking to take sides (I'm a developer and want to make money wherever it can be made) but speaking for me personally, Android is becoming more profitable. In fact, the Android ad network I use (Airpush) has delivered better returns for me in the last six month than others in my repertoire .... So I see money flowing into and out of Android for mobile advertising today to a pretty big degree. Can iOS stay ahead on mobile ad revenue (globally) given that Android is infesting emerging markets in a way that Apple and it's expensive iOS devices cannot?
