Sad
C3PO with boobs is just sad.....
Disney's acquisition of all things Star Wars has some fans in a lather at the prospect of new films set in the Lucasverse. Here at Vulture South, The Reg's Australian outpost, some are in a lather for an entirely different reason, namely the return of the revue Star Wars Burlesque: The Empire Strips Back. The show's creator …
May I ask Why? The original artwork for New Hope had a very feminine C3PO. So nothing particularly offensive about that.
Otherwise, the dancing (both in terms of choreography and execution) is pretty lousy. It is a burlesque all right - but a burlesque from the worst days of this genre when adding a few t*ts and some stripping was supposed to make anything funny. Definitely not burlesque at this level: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRTmvjXs1i0 (by the way, Google sticks MSFT sufrace advert to this video at least for me which is hilarious in itself).
Quote: "Would've helped The Phantom Menace..."
Helped it by making it more tolerable - yes. IMHO it would taken a whole mountain of t*ts to do so, but ... yes... it is possible... Jar Jar Binks head appearing from under a mountain of t*ts and... Not particularly appetizing but probably more watchable. Once...
Making it funnier however - not so much. Even good Burlesque is not particularly funny (unless you are seriously hammered). Just watch Cabaret for a good example.
I have to disagree. This is striptease without the stripping, and a pretty pathetic attempt at teasing as well. Nothing but a bit of writhing around to less than mediocre soundtrack and lightshow. Burlesque, at least, has an element of art and entertainment (remember, burlesque also featured stand-up comedy and other non-stripping acts).

Sorely tempted to get my other half a gold bikini for Christmas. If she finds out it's from Star Wars though I may not survive the winter...
Also, el reg posts a saucy Star Wars vid to make Monday a little more bearable and you lot complain that it isn't cannon? Who are you people and what have you done with the usual commentards?

I saw the show on May the 4th 2012 (which was awesome), so am very happy it will be returning.
The Batman Follies show has also already toured , but the Star Wars show was significantly better
.
And as cliched as it is, the Slave Leia performance was spectacular....For the record, that woman writhes like a snake on stage, and has the most amazing...err...eyes.....
Cheers!
$75 a pop and they managed to sell out two nights at the 1000 seat Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne. Plus other dates in Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide. It is not the first time the show has run either. I liked the part where all three levels of the theatre yelled out "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Lots of gender re-assignment due to the sausage party of the Star Wars universe. Two Leia routines and a sexy Darth Vader.
There was some partial nudity in the show from the Imperial Guard routine with her booty dance, she was very intimidating.

Not sure how this book is going to go though, a friend reckons they will be destroyed by Disney lawyers
