All the busybodies are occupying themselves in drafting, editing and negotiating these treaties - SOPA, ACTA, and now CETA. See, they even package it up into little acronyms that make it easy to rally against them. In short, this doesn't stand a chance of getting anywhere, but keeps everyone busy. Copyright organizations, their lobbyists, the government stooges, lawyers - every one pretends to be doing something for their money and good thing too. You wouldn't want those people anywhere near things where they could do some actual damage.

It's real simple

Japan has it figured out and it's real simple. Pirates get a hefty fine and mandatory two years in prison. Facilitators of piracy get a minimum mandatory 10 years in prison and a huge fine.

This punishment should be adopted world wide and uniformly so that there is no argument or negotiations. You pirate and you pay. You facilitate and you pay.

End of story.

BTW, the EFF can go pound salt.

Only if prescription drugs are covered under the same patent time-frames. I personally think the 'generic drug market' is a crock of shit. Also, if a company is found guilty, everyone in the company, including the attorneys and CxOs pay the fine and serve the time.
