You realise if they waited for the development cycle (develop, test, release) for each OS version to be complete, they'd never actually release the phone? Since they're probably in the testing phase for JB now (assuming they are doing an OTA) by the time they get close to release, the next version will have been announced and they'll have to wait all over again.

Only Google and people working in partnership with Google for a recent OS release can do this. Hence the Nexus phones shipping with it, then the source being released. Even when the Nexus phones are released, you can be damned sure that Google are already working on the next version of Android.

Don't Expect JB

The handset touches down with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich too, although with a Jelly Bean update expected soon.

I wouldn't hold my breath. LG is famous for their contempt for developers, and promising updates that never happen. I'll never buy an LG phone again.

To be fair, this thing borrows quite heavily from the iPhone's aesthetics. Totally flat, black/white front and back, silver band running around it... LG must be desperate.

No... This phone borrows it's aethetics from the entire history of handheld devices, if you want a device to be easily held by one hand and to fit comfortably in a pocket what other shape can you make it?

Don't expect to get JB

Frankly, it's amazing that it even has ICS.... It will never get an official JB update... LG provides no ongoing support...

I have an Optimus 2x, which is more than capable of running ICS quite well.. And after 3 delays of the promised delivery date of the ICS update they have finally come out and said that the 2X will not get ICS after all... There are still a number of bugs in the firmware that have been in since the beginning with no patches, including random re-boots.

Never buying LG again...

I want this - from HTC, or better yet, plain vanilla Android.

Specs sound good - LG's reputation : not so good.

If they could leave this machine plain "vanilla" Android, maybe I'd think about it.

Primary reason I don't go for Samsung is the awful looking Touchwiz. And I don't want to be forced to root and reflash a brand new phone just to be able to look at it.
