back to article Watch the cloud get bigger and change its shape

What are the key trends we can discern in cloud networking? For a start it will take place at scale, with networks that are much bigger than we are used to and growing bigger by the day. Traffic in cloud networks will be very heavy and will display some unique characteristics due to the on-demand nature of cloud computing and …

    The future is here

In the future if you don't use the cloud you

will be considered suspicious and probably a

terrorist. I predict home office posters

asking people to report their non cloud using

    neighbours.

    The future is The Matrix

    Agree with you AC.

Hard drives/CDs/DVDs and blu ray disks will be contraband.

Orwell was only 30 years out with his 1984 vision, it will in fact be 2014.

Re: The future is The Matrix

I too remember the good old days where you could carry around a stack of CD's or DVD's. Now I'm "restricted" to a phone with 32GB of storage, the ability to browse the Internet and make phones calls, play games and run applications while being oppressed....

Who can rescue us from this nightmare and deliver a world where CD's and DVD's are useful once more?

Mines the coat with "if they're not out to get me, why do they look at me like that?" on the back....

Re: The future is The Matrix

DVD's are private personal off-line clouds.

        Clouds.......erhmm

I converted my server farm and SAN into an extra testicle cloud and called it a loads of bolloxs cloud.

Anytime I hear some description of a perfect technology, I can't help but think the words related to a certain animal and its waste product that is used as fertilizer.

Let's not forget that Murphy's Law has been proven right more times than anyone can count.

    Alternatively

Follow too many outages, all servers are taken back in-house.

Paris, because even she's given up on cloud.

    Blah, blah, blah, blah.

    The so-called "cloud" is snake-oil.

"People are using more and more internet devices"

    I only have two hands.

Thus I tend to use only one device at any give time.

    Go

Speed does not have one dependency

Of course if the cloud provider has architected smartly it will already have a solution that copes with low bandwidths and the many that do not have high high speed internet yet!

We for example have coded to assume a low throughput and to maximise the use of the browser side processing client to handle as much as we can of the user interface to ensure usability and performance speed.
