frictionless sharing?
Sounds like they've tried out the KY in NZ first.
Facebook is finally rolling out its Timeline feature worldwide, after the company first announced the latest tweak to its social network in September. As we reported last week, beyond select partners and developers, New Zealanders using Facebook were the only section of Zuck's vast global stalkerbase to get their hands on …
That's because you and everyone else are such unique, precious snowflakes, right? I'm 45 and I use the word "sheeple" regularly - even in reference to myself and my friends when the occasion warrants it - because it is a very apt portmanteau when dealing with the vast majority of the human race. We do indeed behave like sheep more often than not!
I am seriously thinking to just dump all this social network lark, I only use it to keep up with people who I actually know and talk to, I am not a friend hawk and am proud to say I have 70 something people as friends (i got to 200 and though, this is bulsh*t, delete, delete, delete - amazingly there people who i actually see/speak to/ know! (I know you, your friend of a friend of a friend ... or yer i met you once 2 years ago - add me!)
FB, too many updates, at least give us the option to stick with the old visuals and you can still have you advanced backends.
Let things be, I don't want a time line, I don't want to be forced into sharing things, I don't want to be forced into having to administrate something in my own time, I don't want to know about someone bloody cats or baby pictures no matter how many times i select 'don't show me.....'
What if I don't want FB or the world to have a picture someone I know uploaded of me, I cant do much about it.
Still, daily, people don't realise that when you hit that upload button that content is no longer yours.
You are being a free ant in paid for work colony
Anyone ever seen the film Surrogates, I feel the time of younger and younger generations loosing the grasp on real socialising is falling.
Why cant 'social' networks connect, if that cant that not very social!
it would bring some competition into the area...
have Google's send a message to Facebook, Let some of the private social networks share images with the users friends on FB and Google.
ARRRHHHH!
The social network that is anything but social - if you not on it I cant add you as a friend thus I am not interested in you.
That's because Facebook has moved away from the Social Networking norm and has become little more than a glorified replacement for email where you add people you probably know and use it to share things and communicate with them.
Social networking used to be different, people didn't put all their personal details such as email address, phone number, home address and all their life details on a profile. They also used to choose a net name or alias and be careful of what they shared.
I'm not a fan of FB but I don't know that's entirely fair. I don't believe FB was created with this in mind, Zuzky is a proper nerd and made it because it was cool... only later did the money-grubbing activities come in, as evidenced by how long it took for them to figure ads out properly.
Guys, nobody's _making_ you use it. Chillax! It has it uses: if you don't agree, don't use it. Really. There's no need to post on here about it. I accept that by not using it, you are teh cool! There we go. All done. No need to bitch about it anymore, we all get it. Bye!
Why oh why the continuous emphasis on "keeping my own page secure"?
The real problem is that FB is a DATA AGGREGATOR, and that everything that everyone has ever uploaded is available as a whole to FB. Also to the CIA, the FBI, and all the hackers that no one (even FB!) knows about.
Happy surfing!
Most of them probably don't use the internet so posting here might not be helpful. If Facebook is at 1Bn users, that could easily be half of those in the West who use the internet.
If you don't use FB, why do you care what the feature is - you wouldn't understand it anyway if you don't know what FB does/is to begin with.
