You need to translate that from newspeak, then it makes sense, (but only in ways which profit greedy arrogant unsympathetic directors & investors).
i.e. Facebook and Google are both working towards ever more ways to profit from exploiting data on users in ways we once considered our private data and that needs to be communicated to all us Proles in ways they think we will all fall for it.

Hmm, I thought they, the investors and shareholders, were only interested in profit and lots of it. Anything else is secondary and is only implemented to support the first priority, profit.
