UK companies
"The Register’s scan of the list for Australian companies..."
Plenty of UK companies on the list but it doesn't seem to merit a mention in a UK publication.
When RSA’s network security was breached earlier this year, the result wasn’t only the replacement of its SecurID tokens all over the world. At the time, specialists believed that similar techniques could have been deployed against other victims who mostly didn’t go public. Only a handful of stories confirmed the use of …
Hutchison - Hong Kong and Chinese owned.
Orange - owned by France Telecom
Tiscali - owned by Carphone Warehouse. A British firm: Yay!
One out of three aint' bad I supppose. Tiscali was originally Italian of course, although mentioning that seems churlish. But then, so does criticising a journo for sticking to facts he knew he could check (and owning up to that) whilst getting your own facts wrong. Hutchison 3G UK
Orange Business Services UK
Tiscali UK
If I could be arsed, which I can't, I could probably give you their UK company registration info.
There are other big UK names in there too: Vodafone, Easynet, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
You also omitted to mention that I listed BTnet UK Regional network. I'm pretty sure they have some kind of office in the UK.
As you weren't.
... it looks like he's depending on someone else to do the analysis again. One might suppose having the list is better than not having the list, but with only network names, there's so many that have to be taken as false positives (and that possibly erroneously again(!)) it's not actually helping much. Possibly to the contrary. Yes, it's a piece of the puzzle, but so thoroughly neutered that making it useful again is going to be somewhat of a bother. Periliously close to, if not outright, being better off not knowing, I say. Thank you so much, stern looking guy.
