What a shame. Skype had been about as good a beacon of interoperability as it's been possible to see.
Take a quick look at the horror of unfinished and hobbled features that is Messenger for Mac (or Communicator for Mac for that matter) and get a taste of things to come for non-windows clients. IMO Mac Messenger really is the worst piece of commercial software on OS X - and I defy you to name me another application that fails so badly.
Perhaps they don't realise that restricting interoperability must be one of the main reasons that Windows Live Messenger has faded away as far as it has and allowed Skype to grow so strong.
I wonder if it would have cost them $5bn to keep the Mac client up to date and make some sort of effort to support Linux....?
