    Is this so they can be slow in updating as well

    This has a feel of the X10 saga, where o2 seem to be the last to release the 2.1 update. With a phone like the play, a completely unbranded phone would be a better choice, than one that has been fiddled with by the network, especially as SE are going to alow more freedom with the boot loader, which I'm sure o2 or the other mobile providers will not like.

    Why would you release a phone that won't allow you to go online because the network operator can't be bothered to secure their customer data? Seriously though I bet this phone tanks for a few months regardless. The only people that want Sony gear right now are the die hard fanbois or work for the DRM loving anti customer wanker corporation.
