Do you believe in evolution and progress? I do, but only on the long term. In the 'NOW term', the Internet is going to the dogs, and Yahoo is one of the leaders into the pit. Microsoft couldn't care less since they get their pound of flesh up front, and Google is too busy figuring out new ways to make money off of EVIL... Have I tagged enough of the big players yet?
My current mental models of the Internet are based on gangland Chicago during Prohibition, the era of the long civil war in Japan before the unification leading to the Edo Era, with maybe a touch of Tombstone, Arizona in the wildest days of the 19th century. However, drunk cowboys rarely shot children and grannies, whereas today's cybercriminals are only two eager to pwn anyone of any age.
