Coming to a court near you
Very soon...
Indonesian pop star Nazril "Ariel" Irham has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for participating in two homemade sex videos. The 29-year-old was arrested last June after footage of him romping with TV presenter girlfriend Luna Maya and soap actress Cut Tari leaked onto the internet. Irham was charged with distributing …
I am all for it if this will stop the never ending wave of celebrities whose sole claim to celebrity status is that they have shagged Robbie/Bobbie/Rod/Shmod or someone else who used to be able to sing/dance/play football or something a few years back.
If they put them in jail for 3.5 years instead of the first page of the magazine lineup at the counter in Tesco I am all for it.
That is no less or more just than most places. Laws are in place, if you know of them and break them then you must be willing to accept the consequences.
I see no compelling reason why people "need" to post porn of themselves on the internet. If this is really important to *you*, by all means go to a country where you aren't breaking the law.
@ JC 2: So, you suggest that the guy should have left his country of birth so that he could have sex and film it? An uncivilised law is an uncivilised law whether it's this guy being sent to prison for recording his sex session or a guy being prosecuted for having a joke video involving a tiger having sex.
@ Hans 1: I think that may have been the OPs point -- rather like the US having to sort out barbaric dictators they used to "own" in times gone by, or hte UK trying to sort out its old colonies.
"Singgih Budi Prakoso said Irham had done nothing to prevent the dissemination of the videos over the internet"
Er, given that he must have somehow released it into the while, once the box is opened, there's no closing it. How then is he supposed to prevent it's dissemination then? By asking nicely?
"As a public figure, the defendant should be aware that fans might imitate his behaviour."
By having sex?
All faith based religions have serious issues with sex, and have long used overt sexual repression as part of their repressive control. No news here, except like everything else about Islam, it's about 600 years behind the curve.
Islam, the fastest growing religion on earth, and by far the stupidist (go RD).
3.5 years for videoing yourself having sex and someone else leaks it... religious people are such prudes over sex (though they seem to have no problem with violence and gore) it's amazing they ever breed.
Hey, if he'd drawn a picture of Mohammed shagging a 13-year-old girl(*), then he'd have been locked up forever!
(*) Check the history if you don't believe this happened
I do believe that just about all religions require their adherents to have faith.
The Abrahamic religions do have have serious issues with sex/sexuality, but the Polytheistic religions tend to be more liberal in this regard.
Islamic Governments are not the only ones who criminalise all pornography, since 2009 the Ukaine also criminalised it. This legislation was introduced and passed under Viktor Yushchenko, a leader who was not long ago viewed as a liberator, and a someone who would introduce Western European freedoms & values to his nation.
Also the UK's administration (which is de facto secular) has a very backward view of pornography, criminalises so called "extreme" pornography, does not allow "hardcore" pornography to be broadcast, and would like to introduce an internet pornography block.
Alas,
The freedoms from censorship won in the 60s were in vain, as the repressive forces of sexual repression continue to raise their ugly heads.
These people need to get over the simple fact - sex between couples is just a physical activity, like running and jumping. The only difference is that 2 people need to agree to do it simultaneously with each other.
Paris; because she knows about sex
