So you pay for all the HD bells and whistles and submit to full DRM anal treatment to do exactly what? - watch the overcompressed, low bitrate, lag-ag-ag-ag-agging Youtube stream, full of artifacts?

Verily, the gullibility of those "consumers" who will eventually fall for it makes me feel sad for the human race...

Also, shows how successful BD is if they have to resort to offering what basically is a free bus pass as an incentive to buy their car...

Yes, now try reading it

DLNA is bugger all to do with DRM. Try reading the article, or even using DLNA equipment and you'll maybe stop being convinced that the world is out to get you. It's an extension of UPnP AV, and many people, myself included, are using it in their homes right now with no DRM.

Aren't these players also going to feature a plex front-end? Plex being a very ncie mac port of XMBC.

This would allow you to run the plex media server on a computer indexing and organising all your "acquired" video and audio media, and then the plex front-end in the LG bluray player (or TV) would be able to access that, show a nice full screen menu with tv episodes, plot synopses, actor lists, fan art etc and then you select something and it'll stream it to the screen for you.

I'm looking forward to seeing how all this works, but it seems quite exciting. if it all works as planned.

erm...

Plex isn't a Mac port of XBMC... it is a Partially Commerical derivative / fork of XBMC, that just happens to be MAC / iOS only.

XBMC runs fine on Mac as it is, however Plex claim some better OS integration, among other things.
