I guess that's one way to keep Barbie out of the work force!

Looking at the IT trends, Comp Sci grads have a difficult time finding jobs because a lot of the work gets sent off shore.

So its yet another way to enforce the old stereo type of 'barefoot and preggers' :-)

    (I kid, I kid)

Oh well maybe Comp Sci is the 'Art History' degree of the 21st Century?

    That's like, so cool.

Is it wrong for me to want one?

Odd how this online "popular vote" could be somehow come out in favour of computer engineer.

    Really, odd.

BTW, why is computer engineer Barbie in the hardware section?

    O, wait.

    Now hold on, there

I have worked and studied with some very good looking women who knew there away around a computer. I don't recall seeing any of them in pink glasses, but this is Washington, DC.

    Programmer you say?

    She doesn't look particularly Indian!

Ken is unable to spice up anything.

As my girls said when they were very young 'How come Ken doesn't have a willy?'

(which, when you think about it , is two questions in one.)

    1. LaeMing

      That's why...

...Barbie comes with Xena. (NqSFW - though my last boss laughed a lot at it when I sent her a copy).

"Ken is unable to spice up anything."

Then we need "Curry Chef Ken"

Complete with 8 inch penis just to be on the safe side.

To keep things über-realistic and save some money in the process too, there's no need to buy her any friends either.

      bad implication

if we in IT didn't BUY our friends, how would we ever get any?

  10. maclovinz

Maybe next they'll have a Barbie Sarah Palin...

Complete with "Tax cuts" written on hand!

      Paris Hilton

      Baby Drill?

Paris because we all know why.

    Seems accurate enough to me.

She looks a lot like my daughter (if you add about sixteen years), right down to the pink laptop.

"Let's be honest, if this Barbie was realistic, she'd have a pizza box under her arm and a little more tummy under that 'Programmers do it bit by bit' T-shirt she'd be wearing."

She wouldn't have an iPhone either.

      Spot on

Exactly - and don't stop there. Where's her set of mini screwdrivers?

Paris because - isn't it obvious?

And what's which those garish magenta shoes? They're as bad as the equally garish, equally &FF00FF glasses. The shirt's nice, though.

She looks like she ought to be in a modern reworking of Terrahawks...

First, it's wrong to assume every female Computer Engineer buys a pink laptop. And iPhones - Bluetooth accessories? Everyone buys those things. Not just Female Computer Engineers :P

This is the worst kind of model about females and computer engineers. Why can't they get _one_ thing right?

  18. Jock in a Frock

    Divorcee Barbie

Mattel are also releasing Divorcee Barbie.

She doesn't come with any of her own accessories, but she does have Ken's house, Ken's car, half of Ken's pension etc etc....

...explains why I keep getting spam about pink Dell laptops. No phone number though chiz.
