That the NHS was completely shagged a good deal before any of the suppliers were brought on board.
Largely it stemmed from their early IT policy, which involved sticking a pin in the internal telephone directory and then sending that person a cheque for £2k with a note pinned to it saying "buy some computer stuff".
They ended up with a rather eclectic collection of machines (as you would expect). Yes, there were some PCs, but there were also Amigas, STs, Macs, CPCs - pretty much anything available on the market at the time.
