Its a good thing the World Cup only lasts a month then...

"The threat from muti believers could be enough to finish off the birds in some parts of the country within 50 years, the organisation warned."

50 years? Thats one hell of a world cup after party...

The way they bang on about it, you'd think 1966 was only 2 months ago....

Smoking Bird Brains is only for Bird Brains...

... How's that for a marketing slogan for them. ;)

Joking aside ... @"believers in "muti" magic were harvesting the birds' heads for use in rituals"

Sorry, what century are we in again?! ... As I feel like I've just fallen through time, back into the dark ages!

Plus I'm dismayed this is pushing the birds nearer extinction!

When will the entire human race ever finally learn!

    Conclusive proof

That football fans are certifiable f****ing morons.

<SCENE: A stretch of road leading through veld. The corpse of an England fan is lying by the side of the road. Enter two vultures.>

Vulture 1: Urgh, another one of these things. I wouldn't eat it if I were you.

    Vulture 2: Oh?

Vulture 1: Well, the liver will pretty much kill you instantly, there's a colossal amount of flab you have to chew through to get the meat and as for the.....what the hell are you doing?!

Vulture 2: <removing head from the corpse's skull> What a let down. There's nothing in here.

"SA vultures under threat from brain-smoking gamblers"

I would think that smoking *any* part of a carrion eating bird would be a gamble, and thought from the title that was what the article was about, i.e.

"I'll bet you won't smoke that vulture brain..." etc.

    If brains were made of...

So how many smokes would we get out of our correspondents?

    Would that mean

    virtually indistinguishable

Would it be improper to point out that vultures and corrupt politicians are virtually indistinguishable?

Yes, I suppose it would. Never mind.
