back to article Sleep-scheduling software developed for ISS astronauts

American space boffins say they have developed fiendishly cunning software which uses "complex mathematical formulas" to work out the best times for people on irregular schedules to have a kip. I smell Matlab...

    ...you can tell by the figure icons. Good choice though. I wonder how space-based Matlab licensing would work- which jurisdiction would they be subject to? Could they enforce it?

    Come to think of it, could The Pirate Bay be hosted in some kind of orbiting space-station?

      @Martin

      Of course it's Matlab. Do you think those scientists actually learned anything in their half-semester course of C++?

      Funny how they used "programmers" in the article. Script-writers perhaps.

    Perhaps a link to the software would be in order?

    Watch it!!

    Shouldn't this come under RoTM, given the potential for future abuse by the machines? Once this type of system becomes widespread, they can just tweak the results to maximize grogginess and minimize human alertness.

    Shame on you for missing that. On a Friday too.. Have you been testing the software on yourself??

    ...but does it include...

    ...a feature to schedule in some zero-G space rumpy-pumpy with another consenting crew member?

      You'll need to a pull into the 3 Dolphins Club to ask about their schedule.

      Mines the one with "Halfway to anywhere in it."

    Could be remarkably useful.

    If it really improves average alertness and reduces people nodding off at bad moments (like behind the wheel behind an 18 wheeler coming up a traffic junction).
