back to article Probe spots Pac-Man on Saturnian Death Star

The Cassini spacecraft has sent back some unexpected surface temperature data from Saturnian moon Mimas - a satellite previous dubbed the "Death Star" for its prominent Herschel Crater, but now demonstrating its allegiance may lie more with Pac-Man than Star Wars: Cassini images of the temperature on Mimas. One...

...explanation is that the leading edge is preferentially warmed by frictional heat as minute objects impact.

    correct me if im wrong,

    But isn't April First tomorrow?

only if they changed March to have 30 days instead of 31 (today being 30 March)

      Ha!

I'm not falling for that... *riffle* Thursday!

    Bloody Banksy!

He gets everywhere doesn't he? Even if he denies it was him, it won't stop a couple of enterprising lads carefully sawing Mimas into pieces and flogging it on eBay.

Mine's the one with the cans of buntlac in the pocket.

    April fools

Nope, April fools day is Thursday.

    Err - you're wrong.

It isn't April First tomorrow, it's April First on Thursday.

It is the Death Star all right

Do you expect the death star to radiate excess heat from its reactor on the same side where its weapon system is? Do not think so... It looks more and more like this is no moon...

    @ D@v3

Thirty days hath September, April, June and November. And Feb has 28.

In other words, there's still a day-and-a-half left of March. SO ON YER FEET, LADDIE! (Ahem.)

    "...around 84 kelvin"

    Practically t-shirt weather then?

So if the heat signature is Pac-man and Herschel crater is the pill...where are the ghosts?

    Interesting...

these scientist guys had predicted unifom temperatures, but reality proved to be vastly different than what their computerized climate models suggested.

So their computerized climate models turned out to be wrong guesses. Good guesses, made with the best minds that science has to offer, but still wrong.

Now why does that sound so familiar?

Yeah, bloody scientists, if we left it up to them we'd still be living in the stone age being eaten by dinosaurs.

    Fahrenheit?

What the hell is a degrees Fahrenheit scale doing on that graphic? And on the other side it's wrong too. Absolute temperature is measured in Kelvins, not in degrees Kelvin.

    Dodgy sensor

The clearly defined right angle makes me wonder if something (possibly debris or part of the spacecraft) is in the way of the sensors.
