    Thumb Up

    Good News

Cheap, disposable glasses will become the standard (in the UK at least). Sony / Samsung please take note...

      cheap != good

The trouble is the cheap disposable kind will be even worse than the fairly poor ones you get in IMAX at the moment...

    WTF?

    Oh no...

3D telly and they're going to waste it on bloody footballists?

      Unfortunately

They are the largest overall market who will also spend all of their money on it. Essentially they're the same ones who were the early adopters when Sky first launched because Sky had bigger pockets than either the BBC or ITV.

Personally I'm not even remotely interested in either the technology of these 3D-effect systems or the content, so it'll be a net saving for me when I don't pay the extra for the channels.

Given the effect that alcohol has on people's ability to see straight I can't see how much use this will be in pubs, though.

How long before a fight breaks out because the pub runs out of 3D specs?

    Happy

    Can't wait...

I live in Leeds and am thoroughly looking forward to watching a room full of bespectacled grown men swinging their fists wildly into thin air every time Rooney appears on screen (assuming he's playing of course).

    Beer in 3D glasses

I wonder when someone's going to produce 3D contact lenses so we can view the whole world with an extra dimension all day long.

    Joke

    How can one tell.....

......after several strong but foul-tasting lagers whether one has the glasses on or off? Furthermore the traditional cry of "you need f---ing glasses mate" is going to sound a bit strange.

    Fights breaking out

"How long before a fight breaks out because the pub runs out of 3D specs?"

That won't be what causes a fight. No, it'll be caused by some half-cut pillock "dodging" out of the way of one of Emile Heskey's "shots" causing them to stumble into a group of Millwall fans and spilling their pints.
