    Competition ?

    ..perhaps i'm not reading the innuendo sub-title correctly but what link is there between open *standards* and lack of competition ?... - it's rather the opposite IME. Open *source* and competition is a somewhat different matter... but that isn't what was reported in the head-liner.

      what open standard?

      Not until MS patch Office 97 to comply to an open standard, or get the standard amended so that it allows files produced by Office 97.
